The fifth annual competition will be held online on Friday, April 29th, 2022!
WHO
Any student (Gr. 1-8) who has not attended a school in Japan where Japanese is the primary language of instruction for more than 2 consecutive years after the age of 6.
WHAT
An team-based competition between students over a game of Kahoot! online. Teams will answer questions that are derived from the official Junior Japan Bowl 2022 Study Guide.
WHERE & WHEN
Virtual Competition hosted on Friday, April 29, 2022.
- Level 1 (Grades 1-3): 5:00-6:00pm EDT
- Level 2 (Grades 4-6): 6:15-7:15pm EDT
- Level 3 (Grades 7-8): 7:30-8:30pm EDT

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Each school is allowed to register as many teams per competition level. Each team will consist of 2 or 3 students from the corresponding grade levels.
- A team’s final score will be the average score of the students on the team.
- A link to join the Virtual Software Practice Event and Virtual Competition will be sent to the email addresses listed on the registration form. (No school email address, please.)
- Competitors must join the virtual meeting and Kahoot! game using the unique nickname they listed on the registration form.
- The host will confirm all participants before providing the Kahoot passcode and starting the competition.
- Level 2 and Level 3 participants must be able to type in Japanese to answer Open-Ended Questions. Be sure that your keyboard enables you to input Japanese characters and English.
Registration
EACH competitor must fill out the Registration Form by March 31, 2022.
The event is free to all who want to participate, but we expect every student to follow the following rules:
- Participants must use the unique Nickname used in this Registration Form when logging into the virtual meeting and the Kahoot game.
- Participants will behave in a manner that is acceptable in a real competition setting or risk immediate removal and disqualification.
